Dialogue on Housing Policy and Local Impacts
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a thoughtful community conversation on Connecticut’s housing mandates, legislative transparency, and the real-world impacts these policies can have on our towns. Drawing on my experience as former Co-Chair of the General Assembly’s Housing Committee and as a current member of the Planning and Development Committee, we focused on helping residents and local leaders better understand 8-30g and HB 8002 and what these state decisions could mean for local planning, infrastructure, and neighborhood character.
We also addressed serious concerns about the so-called “opt-in” framework: whether it truly reflects a voluntary choice for municipalities, and what pressures it may place on local decision-making. When major legislation advances without sufficient public input, communities are left seeking answers after the fact. I appreciated the thoughtful questions and perspectives shared, they kept the discussion grounded in the practical concerns residents are living with every day.
I remain committed to open dialogue, transparency, and balanced housing solutions that expand affordability while respecting local voices and community needs. Watch the full presentaion here: youtu.be/XLL-n0UAFhI

Overdevelopment & Affordable Housing Legislative Update
Join me, along with State Senator Ryan Fazio, State Representative Tony Scott and leaders from CT-169 Strong, for a legislative update and community conversation on how pending and proposed residential developments are reshaping Fairfield’s neighborhoods under the recently passed statewide housing bill, H.B. 8002.
I will be discussing the real-world impacts of increased housing density on traffic and road safety, schools, infrastructure, public services, and neighborhood character, as well as how H.B. 8002 and long-standing statutes like 8-30g affect local decision-making. This conversation is an opportunity for residents to better understand what may come next and how community voices can play a meaningful role in shaping Fairfield’s future.
