CT Senate GOP Calls for Hearings & Reforms Re: J’Allen Jones Video

Several Republican State Senators today issued the following statement regarding the public release of the video capturing J’Allen Jones’ final moments inside Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown on March 25, 2018.

“Eight years.

It took eight long years for this video to be released.

Gov. Lamont and Attorney General Tong withheld it.

Why?

Transparency, oversight, accountability and justice was thwarted, delayed and denied for eight years.

Why?

What is needed now are public legislative hearings to bring about reforms which systemically address this tragic situation so it never happens again.

Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones as they pursue closure.”
