Today, I joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers and leaders from the Seymour Oxford Food Bank and Connecticut Foodshare to announce the creation of the Feeding Connecticut Caucus.

Our goal is to advocate for increased funding to combat food insecurity, which affects one in eight residents in Connecticut, including one in six children—the August flood disaster in our area highlighted the critical ongoing issue of food insecurity in our community.

We also proposed a $10 million legislative request for the CT Nutrition Assistance Program, supporting local food banks and purchasing fresh produce from Connecticut farmers.

I’ll continue to work across the aisle to ensure that we support those in need and the organizations that support them.
