On Thursday, March 12th, I had the opportunity to interview a longtime Enfield advocate for education and Operations Manager at Enfield Family Resource Centers and Youth Services Bureau, Amy Morales, and a Para Educator, Jamie Dolce, to support their cause to keep education funding in Enfield!

Enfield is one of 57 FRCs in the state of Connecticut that work hard to ensure that families have the resources, education and support that they need to be successful, productive parents saving the state money in the long run. Our FRC is part of Enfield’s Social Services Department, started when Dorothy Allen received the first grant in 1998, and since then has been a wonderful partnership with our Enfield Public Schools which provides the space within the school to provide these services.
Our ask is to Reject the Governor’s proposed FRC budget cut of $1.27 million, a reduction of 20% of funding for each FRC site. The proposed budget cut would fund FRC below pre-pandemic levels, despite consistently rising operating costs.
