“Ridiculous! Outrageous!”

State Sen. Paul Cicarella, R-North Haven, said suspending the 25-cent gas tax would save nearly $3 every fill-up.

Republicans want the tax suspended for the rest of the year.

Cicarella said, “We can easily do it now, and hopefully my colleagues aren’t putting politics over people.”

William Washington, of New Haven, is retired after more than 40 years at Pratt & Whitney. He was filling up his truck at the Pit Stop gas station on the Berlin Turnpike, where prices were just under $4 a gallon for cash customers.

Washington said, “It’s outrageous, man. It’s going up every day!”

He also said, “Ridiculous!

Outrageous! I just spent 50 bucks, and the tank’s not even full.”

Washington said, “I hope it comes down. I really do. The people who love this country need a cheaper gas price.”

Cicarella said he believes additional pressure on Lamont could lead to a special session being called.
