Senator Gordon Launches Petition Urging Careful Review of Proposed Eversource Rate Increase
July 7, 2026
HARTFORD, CT – State Senator Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) today announced the launch of a public petition urging the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) to carefully scrutinize Eversource’s anticipated electric rate increase request and reject any additional burden on ratepayers.
Eversource has notified PURA that it intends to file a rate case seeking an overall average customer bill increase of approximately 11%. The company’s formal filing is expected in mid-July.
“The people of Connecticut continue to struggle under the rising cost of living,” said Senator Gordon. “Too many households are already stretched thin and another significant increase in electric bills would add even more pressure to family budgets, especially for seniors on fixed incomes and small businesses working to stay afloat.”
Through the petition, Senator Gordon calls on PURA to reject Eversource’s proposed rate increase and protect residents from unnecessary increases to their electric bills.
“Our residents deserve affordable, reliable electricity and a regulatory process that puts consumers first at all times,” Senator Gordon said. “Every proposed increase should be carefully reviewed to determine whether it is fully justified. Connecticut ratepayers deserve transparency, accountability, and a voice in decisions that directly affect their household finances. I will keep fighting for that!”
Senator Gordon is encouraging residents across the state to sign the petition and share it with friends, family members, neighbors, and fellow community members.
