“Unconstitutional.” Sen. Sampson Statement on Glock-Ban Law
June 5, 2026
Sen. Rob Sampson issued the following statement regarding the governor’s ceremonial signing of legislation banning Glock-style pistols.
“Governor Lamont held a photo op today celebrating a law that targets gun stores, manufacturers, and law-abiding citizens while leaving criminals completely unaffected.
Connecticut already outlaws machine guns and illegal conversion devices. Criminals who use them already face severe penalties. This bill doesn’t change that.
Instead, it bans commonly owned firearms because someone might illegally modify one in the future. That’s not public safety. That’s guilt by association.
The people affected by this law are not gang members or violent felons. They are the responsible citizens who exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
This legislation is unconstitutional, legally vulnerable, and destined to become another expensive court battle taxpayers will be forced to fund.
Governor Lamont may call it progress. I call it political theater at the expense of the Constitution.”
