Sen. Harding Statement on Medicaid Tax Proposal - CT Senate Republic

Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding the governor’s proposal to impose a Medicaid tax on large CT employers.

“So, let me get this straight.

In the past two weeks:

Gov. Lamont had nothing to say about Connecticut getting another “F” grade on affordability.

He signed a solar bill into law which will increase our 2nd-highest-in-the-nation electricity burdens.

He had the audacity to hold a press conference to say that after 7 1/2 years of doing nothing, he is now going to ‘step up’ to lower our sky high electricity bills.

He then offered up ideas which do exactly nothing to lower our electricity bills.

And now he wants to tax large employers in Connecticut?

Isn’t this the same governor who frequently says, ‘Connecticut doesn’t need more taxes; it needs more taxpayers’?

Gov. Lamont claims he wants to do something about high health care costs, but year after year he won’t push for Association Health Plans which would do just that.

He has nothing to say about the double-digit health insurance rate hikes we see annually in Connecticut.

Bottom line?

People can’t afford Connecticut, Gov. Lamont.

This is a crisis happening under your watch.

Connecticut is totally unaffordable under one-party Democrat rule.

It’s only going to get worse if we don’t restore balance at the State Capitol.”
