“Horrific” : CT Senate GOP Statement on DCF Tragedy

The CT Senate Republican Caucus issued the following statement regarding the third case in the past four months involving a child who died within a week of having contact with DCF.

“The horrific tragedy in Manchester is profoundly sad.

It again underscores how DCF is a train wreck.

DCF cannot handle the cases they are already monitoring, and they are making catastrophic mistakes.

Vulnerable children under DCF’s care keep dying.

Gov. Lamont: You need to hold people accountable. This is a crisis. DCF is broken.

Staff turnover. DCF workers leaving. Preventable tragedies. Lawsuits. Multi-million dollar settlements paid by the overburdened Connecticut taxpayers.

These are all crucial issues which should concern Democrats and Republicans.

Yet Connecticut Democrats are silent and look the other way.

Why?

Reforms of DCF must be our mutual top priority.”
