“A Complete Joke”: CT Senate GOP Statement on Gov. Lamont’s ‘Energy Policy Reforms’ Press Conference
June 15, 2026
The CT Senate Republican Caucus issued the following statement regarding Gov. Lamont’s ‘energy policy reforms’ press conference earlier this week.
“When is Gov. Lamont going to get real about solving Connecticut’s affordable crisis?
Apparently not anytime soon.
His weak, political stunt of a press conference was a complete joke and a slap in the face to everyone who is being buried by electricity costs.
Speaking of slaps in the face: Remember when the petition with 60,000 signatures was delivered to Gov. Lamont’s office begging for relief on electricity bills? He didn’t even bother to show up to receive it.
And what happened to Gov. Lamont’s measly $400 ‘energy rebates’ for Connecticut families that the governor proposed in February? That idea was a flop that went nowhere.
And Gov. Lamont continues to defend the hidden public benefits tax on your electric bills which cost you hundreds of dollars a year.
The public benefits tax should be renamed the ‘Lamont Levy’ – because he owns it.
And why is Gov. Lamont having energy policy press conferences NOW? The legislative session wrapped up more than a month ago. He couldn’t find the time to work with Republicans for the entire three-month session?
Gov. Lamont and Democrat policies have made Connecticut the second highest in the nation for electricity costs.
It looks like we’ll soon be number one, because affordability is not a priority for this governor and CT Democrats.”
