North Branford— State Sen. Paul Cicarella (R-34) joined members of the shoreline delegation, local officials, advocates, and community leaders at BHcare’s Mental Health Awareness Month press conference recognizing the importance of mental health awareness, treatment, and recovery.
During the event, a citation was presented by members of the shoreline delegation, including Sen. Paul Cicarella, Sen. Christine Cohen, Rep. Vincent Candelora, Rep. Robin Comey, Rep. John-Michael Parker, Rep. Moira Rader, Rep. David Yaccarino, and Rep. Joe Zullo, in recognition of BHcare’s continued commitment to advancing mental health services and support throughout the region.
Mayor Rose Angeloni also presented a municipal proclamation recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month during the event.
This year’s Mental Health Awareness Month theme, “Hope. Health. Recovery.,” highlighted the importance of accessible care, recovery services, and continued investment in mental health resources for individuals and families across Connecticut.
“Events like this help continue the conversation, reduce stigma, and connect people with the resources they need. BHcare has done tremendous work across our region, and I was proud to join my colleagues in recognizing their commitment to helping others.” said Sen. Cicarella.
BHcare also highlighted the expansion of its Parent Child Resource Center to the shoreline region and discussed ongoing efforts to improve access to mental health services, including support through the National Child Traumatic Stress Initiative (NCTSI) grant program.
“Many people still struggle in silence when it comes to mental health,” Sen. Cicarella added. “Making sure individuals and families know there are resources available and that they are not alone is incredibly important. I appreciate and highly respect the work BHcare continues to do every day to provide compassionate care and support throughout our communities.”
