CT Senate GOP Statement on Dairy Farm $$$
May 13, 2026
Sen. Stephen Harding, Sen. Heather Somers, Sen. Jeff Gordon and Sen. Eric Berthel issued the following statement regarding the release of funding to provide immediate relief to the state’s dairy farmers.
“Seven weeks ago, Senate Republicans called on the governor to provide relief for local dairy farmers. There are only about 80 dairy farms remaining in Connecticut, and they are facing a sustainability crisis.
Connecticut’s family-owned dairies are comprised of hard-working, blue-collar, working-class individuals who want nothing more than to provide food for our state and our country. Unfortunately, unaffordable Connecticut policies make it harder and harder for them to do so. Fewer farms, less local food. Once those farms are gone, they’re gone for good. You cannot rebuild a farm.
There is much more to be done to make Connecticut more affordable for all our farmers and job creators, but we appreciate that the governor has listened to the Senate Republicans on this issue.”
