CT Senate GOP: School-to-Work Pipeline Must Be Strengthened
April 2, 2026
On behalf of the Senate Republican Caucus, Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding a new report which finds that employers across Connecticut are struggling to fill open jobs due to a lack of job-ready skills among applicants.
“Tens of thousands of well-paying jobs are going unfilled in Connecticut.
Healthcare jobs. Manufacturing jobs. Jobs in the trades.
That’s why, for years, the Senate Republican Caucus has pushed policies to develop and strengthen the school-to-work pipeline.
Connecting students directly with employers. Expanding internship and apprenticeship training opportunities. It is vital that we work to reach our children at an early age, with an eye to pathways to careers that don’t need a four-year degree.
We thank the CBIA Foundation for Economic Growth & Opportunity for releasing this common sense Connecticut Workforce & Education Strategy Blueprint. It offers a roadmap to success, and Senate Republicans will work in bipartisan fashion to help make it a reality.”
