“Alarming”: CT Senate GOP Statement on OCA Criticism of DCF After Tragedy

For Immediate Release 

On behalf of the Senate Republican Caucus, Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding the Connecticut Office of the Child Advocate’s criticism of the state Department of Children and Families after a child in DCF care died by suicide one hour after DCF visited the family.

“Absolutely tragic.

Awful, alarming and preventable.

The child told the DCF caseworker that the child did not feel safe.

The child asked to come into foster care.

The child was in a dangerous, unstable environment and wanted out.

What more did this child have to do?

Senate Republicans demand leadership on this issue.”
