Statement from Sen. Sampson on Plainville Tragedy and Community Response - CT Senate Republic

Plainville, CT— State Senator Rob Sampson (R-16) issued the following statement in response to the recent tragedy in Plainville and the growing memorial honoring the victims:

“I am deeply saddened by the horrific events that took place in Plainville and the tragic loss of innocent lives. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ loved ones and all those affected during this incredibly difficult time.

As we have now learned, this heartbreaking incident involved the loss of a mother and two young children, taken in an act of unimaginable violence before the individual responsible took his own life following a police response.

In the days since, the Plainville community has come together in a powerful display of compassion and support. A growing memorial of flowers, balloons, and tributes now stands outside the home, reflecting the grief and unity of neighbors who are mourning together.

I want to thank our local law enforcement officers, first responders, and emergency personnel who responded quickly and professionally under extremely difficult circumstances. Their actions helped ensure the safety of the broader community.

This tragedy is a sobering reminder of how fragile life can be and how important it is that we look out for one another. In times like these, the strength of our communities matters most.

My office stands ready to assist any residents who may need support or resources in the aftermath of this tragedy. We will continue to keep the victims and their families in our thoughts and prayers.”
