Sen. Gordon Helps Secure $3.8 Million in Community Funding for Vernon and Stafford - CT Senate Republic

HARTFORD, CT – State Senator Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) today welcomed more than $3.8 million in state Community Investment Fund 2030 (CIF) funding for projects in the towns of Vernon and Stafford that will support environmental cleanup, redevelopment, and economic revitalization in the region.

The funding includes $2.5 million for the continued remediation and redevelopment of Daniel’s Mill in Rockville, a project that will help transform a long-vacant historic mill property and support the ongoing revitalization of downtown Rockville in Vernon.

“This is great news for Vernon and the Rockville community,” said Senator Gordon. “Investing in the remediation and redevelopment of Daniel’s Mill is a major step forward for the continued revitalization of downtown Rockville. Projects like this help preserve historic sites while creating new opportunities for economic growth and community development.

In addition, $1.3 million was approved for environmental cleanup and abatement at the Witt School property in Stafford, preparing the site for future redevelopment and community use.

“This investment is an important step toward the future redevelopment of the Witt School property,” Sen. Gordon said. “Environmental cleanup is often the first and most critical phase of revitalization projects, and this funding will help move the project forward while positioning the site for new opportunities that benefit Stafford residents.”

The funding is provided through the Community Investment Fund, a statewide initiative that supports economic development, brownfield remediation, infrastructure improvements, and community development projects in municipalities across Connecticut.

“I have been strongly advocating for these investments, and I’m pleased to see this funding coming back to benefit communities in the 35th Senate district,” Sen. Gordon added. “Thank you to the Community Investment Fund Board for supporting these important projects in Vernon and Stafford.”
