Sen. Cicarella Applauds Advancement of Key Public Safety Legislation - CT Senate Republic

Hartford— State Sen. Paul Cicarella (R-34) today applauded the Public Safety Committee’s advancement of several key measures, marking important progress toward strengthening community safety and supporting Connecticut’s first responders.

Among the bills moving forward is S.B. 367: An Act Establishing a Working Group to Study Roadside Safety Concerns Associated with Wreckers and Towing and Recovery Professionals. This legislation takes an important first step toward better understanding the risks faced by these workers and identifying solutions to improve safety on Connecticut’s roadways.

The committee also advanced H.B. 5046: An Act Supporting Firefighter and Police Officer Recruitment and Retention, which aims to help departments across the state attract and retain the personnel needed to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

“Public safety is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of government,” said Sen. Cicarella. “These bills reflect a strong commitment to protecting both the public and the dedicated men and women who serve on the front lines every day. By studying roadside safety risks and strengthening recruitment and retention efforts, we are taking meaningful steps to support safer communities across Connecticut.”

Sen. Cicarella emphasized that these proposals represent practical solutions to ongoing workforce challenges while improving safety conditions for essential personnel.

“These are common-sense measures that will make a real difference,” Sen. Cicarella added. “I look forward to continuing this work as these bills move through the legislative process.”
