Sen. Cicarella Applauds Advancement of Government Accountability and Transparency Initiatives - CT Senate Republic

Hartford — State Sen. Paul Cicarella (R-34) today applauded the Government Oversight Committee’s advancement of several key government accountability measures aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and the responsible use of taxpayer dollars.

The legislation includes:

  • S.B. 248 — An Act Concerning a Study of Reestablishing the Duties, Responsibilities, and Staffing of the Legislative Program Review and Investigations Committee
  • S.B. 324 — An Act Concerning Government Oversight Over Fraud and Waste and Establishing the Office of Government Oversight and Efficiency
  • S.B. 425 — An Act Requiring Annual State Agency Performance Plans

“These bills are about making government work more effectively for the people of Connecticut,” said Sen. Cicarella. “Taxpayers deserve transparency, accountability, and confidence that their dollars are being managed responsibly.”

Together, these proposals focus on identifying inefficiencies, preventing waste and fraud, and ensuring that state agencies operate with clear goals and measurable outcomes. The package represents a practical effort to strengthen oversight and improve performance across state government.

“Good government starts with strong oversight,” Sen. Cicarella added. “By increasing accountability and setting clear expectations for our agencies, we can deliver better results and help restore public trust.”

Sen. Cicarella noted that committee approval marks an important step forward, with additional work ahead as the bills move through the legislative process.
