“Drip, drip, drip.” CT Senate GOP Statement on CVS Health Layoffs
February 6, 2026
Sen. Tony Hwang, Ranking Senator on the legislature’s Insurance and Real Estate Committee, and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding CVS Health’s plan to lay off 313 people who report to management at its building in Hartford.
“This drip, drip, drip of significant insurance job losses in the ‘Insurance Capital of the World’ continues to be troubling.
Meanwhile, CVS has refused to disclose its employee headcount in Hartford.
And this week, Gov. Lamont unfortunately pledged allegiance to implementing universal healthcare, which will kill private sector insurance jobs in Connecticut.
We need leadership.
We need to pass pro-business policies – like Association Health Plans – which lower health insurance costs for job creators and state residents.
So where is that leadership? Let’s get it done in bipartisan fashion.
Why must we keep hearing the drip, drip, drip of insurance job losses?”
