Senator Gordon Statement on PA-490 Land Use Value Reversal
January 19, 2026
HARTFORD, CT – State Senator Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) issued the following statement regarding the changes made to Public Act 490 today ahead of the Jan. 20 public forum with farmers.
“I am glad to see that Governor Lamont has listened to me, my Republican colleagues, and farmers about the flawed PA-490 land use values created by state government. During a recent press conference, we called for these huge increases to be stopped. So too did more than 20,000 people who signed a statewide petition. The Governor’s actions today to direct the Office of Policy & Management to rescind the new land use values and instead use the prior values are welcome news.
This is a big win for farmers, local agriculture, and open space. But more needs to be done. I co-authored serious, common-sense legislation that has been submitted by the Senate Republican caucus to fix this problem in a fair, inclusive, and transparent way. It is about fighting for what is right.”
