Town of Tolland Receives State Funding for Public Safety and Community Infrastructure Improvements - CT Senate Republic

HARTFORD, CT – State Senator Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) today celebrated the approval of multiple state investments benefiting the Town of Tolland, including funding for public safety infrastructure and essential community services. The funding is provided through the State of Connecticut’s Grants-in-Aid for Urban Development Program, which supports economic and community development, public safety, environmental protection, and social service projects across the state.

The Town of Tolland is being awarded $873,000 in state grant funding to support much-needed renovations and improvements to the Town’s Animal Control Facility and to create a regional program that will include the towns of Willington and Stafford. This investment will allow Tolland to modernize its Animal Control Facility, improving conditions for animals, enhancing safety for staff and visitors, and ensuring the Town can continue to provide high-quality animal care and control services to the community.

“This funding is a major win for Tolland, Willington, and Ashford,” said Senator Gordon. “The Animal Control Facility plays an important role in public safety and animal welfare, and these improvements will allow the town to better serve residents, while ensuring humane, safe, and modern conditions for the animals in its care. Additionally, this is a regional program to include Willington and Stafford, that will enhance the services provided for the three communities and position the towns to meet state mandates.”

Additionally, $2.5 million in funding was approved for generator replacements at several critical state facilities, including State Police Troop C in Tolland. The funding will support upgraded backup power systems to ensure continuity of operations during emergencies and severe weather events.

“These kinds of investments are a strong win for Tolland and the surrounding region,” said Senator Gordon. “Ensuring Troop C has reliable backup power is critical for public safety and emergency response in northeastern Connecticut, and I’m pleased to see this funding move forward alongside important community investments.”

The grant is administered through the Department of Economic and Community Development on behalf of the Office of Policy and Management and supports local projects that strengthen communities and essential services.
