Statement from Senator Tony Hwang on Recent Acts of Violence and Campus Safety
December 14, 2025
Here in Connecticut, we continue to mourn the students and educators lost at Sandy Hook thirteen years ago. Their memory remains with us—and so does our responsibility to protect our children from gun violence and ensure schools and campuses are places of safety, learning, and hope.
This moment is further darkened by the deadly attack at a Hanukkah gathering at Sydney’s Bondi Beach—an assault on community and faith during a sacred time.
My thoughts are with all those impacted. We honor those we have lost by standing together, rejecting violence and hate, and renewing our commitment to prevention, accountability, and a culture of kindness, compassion, and community.”
