$$$ Fine for Gov. Lamont’s Former PURA Boss: CT Senate GOP Statement
December 17, 2025
Sen. Stephen Harding, Sen. Jeff Gordon, Sen. Rob Sampson and Sen. Ryan Fazio issued the following statement regarding the former chair of the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority Marissa Gillett getting fined $2,500 after the authority was found to have mishandled a request for public records during her tenure.
“Better and better.
That’s how we feel about our Senate Republican caucus’s decision to get up and walk out on the vote on Gillett’s nomination.
Remember how Gov. Lamont stuck with her?
Remember how Gov. Lamont brazenly blamed the media for pursuing this investigation?
We do.
To this day, a print of Norman Rockwell’s painting ‘The Right to Know’ hangs over Gov. Lamont’s desk at the State Capitol.
It’s quite ironic. It’s also hypocrisy.
Because Gov. Lamont never wanted to know. Gov. Lamont never asked difficult questions. And Gov. Lamont never pushed his top energy appointee to be transparent with the people or even her own staff.
That’s a crystal clear reflection of his leadership, and it’s unfortunate.
It’s also something to reflect on as you open up your unaffordable monthly electricity bills.”
