CT Senate GOP Statement on New Licensed Nurses Policy - CT Senate Republic

Sen. Heather Somers, Sen. Jeff Gordon, and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding the new state policy that seeks to make it easier for licensed nurses from other jurisdictions to practice in Connecticut.

“This has been a Republican priority for more than a decade. We have worked in bipartisan fashion to make Connecticut a role model for the nation in terms of our public health policies. For example, we have passed legislation to:

  1. retain and increase our health care workforce, including nurses
  2. encourage more individuals to embark on nursing instruction careers
  3. ease the process of receiving advanced practice registered nursing licenses
  4. expose students to the possibility of health care provider careers

There is always more to be done in developing our health care workforce and encouraging people of all ages to consider entering health care careers in Connecticut.

All of us agree that nurses are professionals and should be treated as such.”
