CT Senate GOP Statement on CT DEEP Audit Report - CT Senate Republic

Sen. Stephen Harding, Sen. Rob Sampson and Sen. Henri Martin today issued the following statement regarding the state’s audit of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

“State employees out on paid leave…with no documentation for why they are out on paid leave.

State employees remaining out on paid leave beyond the 30-day limit…and getting paid more than $75,000 that they shouldn’t have been paid.

Hundreds of state vehicles that are rarely used or sit idle completely and don’t get used at all.

Nearly 150 state vehicles that don’t have mileage logs.

An inconsistent overtime and comp time approval process involving tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars.

The bipartisan auditors’ review of DEEP offers a lot to chew on, and a lot of areas where DEEP can and must tighten its belt. We thank the auditors for their work.

It also makes us wonder: If all this is happening at DEEP, isn’t it likely happening throughout Connecticut state government?”
