Sen. Tony Hwang Promotes Holiday Safety Awareness and New Rideshare Initiative to Prevent Impaired Driving
December 29, 2025
FAIRFIELD, CT – State Senator Tony Hwang (R-28th Senate District) joined rideshare businesses, community safety advocates and law enforcement in urging Connecticut residents to plan ahead for safe transportation during New Year holiday celebrations. As part of ongoing efforts to prevent impaired driving, Sen Hwang has collaborated with Uber to announce a special rideshare initiative to help Connecticut travelers get home safely from their holiday celebrations.
Uber is offering Connecticut riders a holiday discount code, “CTSAFE25,” which provides $25 off a ride during the New Year holiday week from December 29th through Jan 3rd, 2026. The program is intended to encourage residents to choose safe, reliable transportation options, particularly when alcohol or legal/prescription drugs may impair driving ability.
“We are working together with Uber and law enforcement to ensure that the public has the resources and awareness they need to plan and make safe roadway choices during their holiday celebration with friends and loved ones,” said Senator Hwang. “Impaired driving tragedies are preventable, and we encourage all drivers to plan for a sober and distraction-free trip.”
Senator Hwang emphasized that rideshare programs, designated drivers, and public transportation are essential tools to help prevent avoidable crashes, injuries, and loss of life tragedies.
.
“Celebrating responsibly protects not only yourself, but everyone sharing the road,” Hwang added. “This partnership with Uber provides another meaningful tool for people to get home safely, and I hope residents take advantage of it.”
Residents are encouraged to plan transportation arrangements ahead of time and avoid last-minute decisions that could put themselves or others at risk.
