Sen. Harding Statement on Special Session Bill to Create $500M Federal Contingency Fund
November 10, 2025
“I fully support helping vulnerable residents in a responsible way. However, I have yet to see the final bill language.
Meanwhile, all indications are that the federal government could be re-opening as soon as Thursday. We may not need to take this step to give Gov. Lamont a huge amount of power to control a half a billion taxpayer dollars.
We don’t need to be creating gigantic potential ‘slush funds’ in our already unaffordable state.
These are the actions that could lead to potentially historic tax hikes.”
– Sen. Stephen Harding (R-Brookfield)
