Sen. Gordon Calls for Investigation After Audit Reveals Firearms Permit Appeals Backlog
November 24, 2025
HARTFORD, CT – State Senator Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) released the following statement regarding a recent audit that revealed the Board of Firearms Permit Examiners appeals found significant delays between appeal requests and scheduled hearings. As of March 13, 2024, 1203 cases remained unheard, with hearings scheduled through March 2026. The backlog included 590 denials and 613 revocations:
“This finding by the nonpartisan State Auditors should be a wakeup call. When the state government slows down an already involved process pertaining to a constitutionally protected right, then people are denied their rights. State government could do this to any of our rights – and has been doing just that. We have inherent individual rights, parental rights, and medical freedoms that must be defended. I am asking for an investigation”, said Sen. Gordon
