(Listen) Sen. Harding on the NY Giants, Mamdani – Lamont, the ’25 Election PURA Controversy, Special Session & the Government Shutdown - CT Senate Republic

Interview starts at the 20 minute mark: https://morningswithgarybyronpodcast.transistor.fm/episodes/mornings-with-gary-byron-podcast-11-6-25

  • Questions why our supposedly ‘centrist’ Gov. Lamont says that he “shares a lot of Mamdani’s aspirations” and that Mamdani is “transformative”.
  • The Election: Says CT Republicans “need to start working today” to increase our numbers in the House & Senate next year…the future of our state depends on it. “We are going to see even more far left policies, reckless spending and increases in taxes, if Democrats keep their numbers. It is incumbent upon us as Republicans to get more Republicans elected to ensure a more fiscally responsible and safer direction for CT. Let’s take this as a warning to really start getting aggressive to win next November.”
  • On PURA: “There’s such a lack of transparency there. And the laissez-faire attitude that Lamont has displayed regarding this board which regulates our electricity…his attitude has been very absent-minded and elitist.”
  • On AG Tong at first scolding Republicans for asking questions about PURA staffers… but is now investigating PURA: “Tong goes where the wind blows…he is starting to figure out that people are furious about their electric rates continuing to skyrocket and the lack of transparency at PURA and nothing being done about it. William is now seeing the light – because everyone in the state has seen the light – and he has decided to do something about it.”
  • On the Mystery Housing Special Session Bill: “Republicans have not seen it. This is likely to uproot local control…so wouldn’t it be incumbent on you as Democrats to share that with your legislative colleagues? This is the arrogance you get when you have one-party rule. The only way this will change is if more Republicans are elected next November.”
  • On the shutdown: “There are people who are going to starve, yet Senate Democrats want to play politics. I don’t want to hear any Democrats say they care about the working class people of this country while they continue to force them to essentially starve and stop vets from receiving their VA benefits. Senate Democrats – including our two CT U.S. Senators – are allowing that to happen by voting “no” to reopening the government.”
