CT Senate GOP Statement on NY Approving Permit for Proposed Natural Gas Pipeline
November 7, 2025
Sen. Ryan Fazio, Sen. Rob Sampson, Sen. Heather Somers, and Sen. Jeff Gordon today issued the following statement regarding the State of New York’s approval of a key water-quality permit for a proposed natural-gas pipeline off the New York City coast. “By issuing this key permit, New York is taking action to lower future electricity costs for struggling families and businesses. However, they also denied a permit for another pipeline which would benefit Connecticut and New England.
So, what’s Connecticut doing in response?
What is Gov. Lamont doing to keep the lights and heat on?
Electricity costs in our state remain too damn high. We must reduce costs.
This is a crucial moment for Connecticut.
What’s the plan? Is there one?
We are calling on the governor and legislature to pass our Senate Republican plan, Senate Bill 647, to eliminate the public benefits charge to provide relief.
We are also calling on the administration to take action against New York’s arbitrary denial of the Constitution Pipeline at the same time they approved another pipeline to benefit themselves. This undermines interstate commerce and regional energy security, and our state leadership cannot stand by and let it happen.”
