CT Senate GOP Statement on Bridgeport Sexual Assault Case
November 7, 2025
Sen. Eric Berthel, and Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement regarding a judge doubling the $1 million bond holding a Bridgeport man since his arrest last month on charges that he grabbed a 14-year-old girl on her way to high school and sexually assaulted her, after prosecutors filed two more counts of sexual assault against him. “This story just gets more and more appalling.
Our hearts go out to the victims and their families.
Key questions in Bridgeport – and across Connecticut – remain:
A teenage student can’t head out to school without worrying about getting sexually assaulted?
How can any Connecticut student walking any distance feel safe?
Last month, Senate Republicans raised red flags regarding the safety of thousands of Bridgeport students.
This horrible story deserves answers – and action.
We thank the prosecution team for its work in pursuit of justice.”
