Senator Hwang Statement on Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba - CT Senate Republic

“I offer my heartfelt prayers for the people of Jamaica, Haiti, and Cuba, as they face the devastation of Hurricane Melissa. The storm reportedly made landfall with wind speeds reaching 185 mph, bringing severe danger and uncertainty to countless families and communities.

Our thoughts are with everyone enduring this disaster, especially those who have lost homes, those still in harm’s way, and the first responders working tirelessly to keep others safe. This storm strikes on the 10th anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, and we stand in solidarity during this frightening and difficult time.

Let us continue to keep them in our thoughts and extend compassion through actions of support as the nation begins to heal and rebuild.”
