Senator Gordon Applauds Funding for After-School Programs in the 35th District.
HARTFORD, CT – State Senator Jeff Gordon (R-Woodstock) today applauded the announcement of $297,900 in funding awarded to schools in the 35th Senate District through the Connecticut State Department of Education’s After-School Grant Program.
“This is fantastic news for the 35th Senate District,” said Senator Gordon. “Investing in high-quality after-school programs is an investment in our children’s futures. These programs open doors to opportunity, enrichment, and meaningful connections that support academic success and personal growth. I’m proud to see this funding directed to our communities, ensuring students have safe, engaging spaces beyond the classroom.”
The grant funding will help expand after-school programs that provide vital academic support and a wide range of enrichment activities, including tutoring, mentoring, STEM education, arts, and athletics. These programs are designed to improve academic achievement, boost school attendance, enhance student behavior, and offer safe, structured environments during non-school hours.
The following schools received funding for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years:
- Eastford Elementary School received $60,000.
- Hampton Elementary School received $55,000.
- Stafford Elementary School received $127,900.
- Center Elementary School and Hall Middle School in Willington received $55,000.
Senator Gordon looks forward to seeing the positive impact this investment will have on students and families across the 35th District.
