“Welcome News.” Sens. Fazio & Gordon Statement on Natural Gas Agreement

Sen. Ryan Fazio and Sen. Jeff Gordon today issued the following statement regarding Enbridge Inc. signing a commercial agreement for the Algonquin Reliable Affordable Resilient Enhancement project (AGT Enhancement) which is expected to increase deliveries on the Algonquin Gas Transmission pipeline to existing Local Distribution Company customers in the U.S. Northeast.

“This is welcome news. We must expand the supply of affordable natural gas in the Northeast.

Utility bills are too damn high, but this isn’t just a matter of reducing the cost of energy. It’s about keeping the lights, the heat and the AC on in 10 to 20 years as demand increases. It’s a matter of people’s health and lives.

We also have to work with the federal government to apply pressure to New York, which is unfairly blocking the new Constitution Pipeline to the Northeast in order to make greater headway increasing supply and reducing costs for our residents.”
