Senator Tony Hwang Earns 100% on CBIA Legislative Scorecard - CT Senate Republic

HARTFORD, CT—State Senator Tony Hwang (R-Fairfield) has once again earned a perfect 100% rating from the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) for his votes this year on issues impacting the state’s business community.

The CBIA, which represents thousands of employers across Connecticut, issues an annual legislative scorecard that evaluates how lawmakers vote on a range of issues critical to the state’s economic environment. This year’s scorecard reflected votes on key measures, including unemployment benefits for striking workers, occupational licensing, small business regulations, hiring ratios, permitting reforms, banking reforms, the state budget, and more. Legislators were graded based if they voted in a business-friendly manner on these important issues that affect job creation, business growth, and regulatory burdens.

While Democrat lawmakers in the state House of Representatives from Fairfield earned scores of 57%, 63%, and 75%, Senator Hwang’s continued commitment to Connecticut’s economic future shines through with his perfect 100% score.

“I am honored to once again receive a 100% score from the CBIA,” said Senator Hwang. “This score reflects my dedication to ensuring Connecticut remains a place where businesses can thrive. As families face consistent economic uncertainty, it’s more important than ever to implement policies that foster job creation, reduce unnecessary regulation, and support businesses of all sizes. My voting record this year on critical issues, including unemployment for striking workers, occupational licensing, and small business regulations, underscores my commitment to promoting policies that benefit both our economy and hardworking families.”

The 2025 CBIA scorecard highlights the importance of maintaining a business-friendly legislative approach to ensure Connecticut remains competitive and prosperous. Senator Hwang’s leadership continues to earn the trust and respect of the business community across the state.
