Senator John A. Kissel Announces $250,000 Community Investment Fund (CIF) Planning Grant for Windsor Locks Wellness and Athletic Center - CT Senate Republic

HARTFORD, CT—Senator John A. Kissel (R—Enfield) has announced that the town of Windsor Locks has been awarded a $250,000 planning grant from the state’s Community Investment Fund (CIF) for the development of a Community Outdoor Wellness and Athletic Center at 58 Elm Street, located at Windsor Locks High School.

The proposed center aims to serve a wide range of community members, including youth athletes, adult leagues, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. By offering a variety of outdoor athletic and wellness programs, the center will help promote physical activity, health, and wellness for all residents of Windsor Locks.

“The new Community Outdoor Wellness and Athletic Center will provide a space for people of all ages and abilities to engage in physical activity and improve their overall well-being,” said Senator Kissel. “This planning grant is an important step in creating an accessible facility that supports the needs of our community. I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our residents.”

This grant is part of Connecticut’s broader efforts to invest in local communities, improve infrastructure, and foster spaces where residents can connect, stay active, and thrive.

“I want to thank the state for this funding, and I look forward to working with local officials and the community to ensure this center is a valuable resource for Windsor Locks,” Senator Kissel added.

The item is now subject to bond commission approval.
