Senator John A. Kissel Announces $250,000 CIF Grant for Windsor Senior Housing Planning - CT Senate Republic

HARTFORD, CT—Senator John A. Kissel (R—Enfield) has announced that the town of Windsor will receive $250,000 in funding from the State of Connecticut’s Community Investment Fund (CIF) to support the planning and feasibility study for a new affordable housing development for seniors and adults with disabilities.

The grant will be used for a predevelopment study aimed at assessing the feasibility of building 40 to 100 units of affordable housing at 275 Broad Street in Windsor. The planned development will focus on providing housing options for low- and moderate-income seniors and individuals with disabilities.

“Ensuring that Windsor’s seniors and individuals with disabilities have access to affordable housing options is important,” said Senator Kissel. “This funding will help move the project forward by assessing the feasibility of the proposed development.”

The predevelopment study will evaluate site conditions, environmental considerations, and design plans, laying the foundation for future development and funding. It will also address alternative locations for the existing ballfields at that location now.

“Thank you to the Community Investment Fund board for supporting this planning effort,” Senator Kissel added. “This funding is a useful tool to help the town make informed decisions about how to meet the housing needs of its residents.”

The item is now subject to bond commission approval.
