Sen. Harding Earns 100 % Score for Votes on Issues Impacting CT’s Business Community - CT Senate Republic

Sen. Stephen Harding (R-Brookfield) has been awarded a 100% grade by the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) for his votes this year on issues impacting the state’s business community.

CBIA represents thousands of large and small employers in the Connecticut. One of CBIA’s primary functions is its annual legislative scorecard and its determination of how friendly legislators are to the business community. Lawmakers were judged based on their support for policies that create jobs and bring businesses to Connecticut, as well as their opposition to job-killing taxes and burdensome mandates.

“I am very grateful to be recognized by CBIA with this perfect score,” Sen. Harding said. “It is an honor to be a strong voice for job creators at the State Capitol. As state senator, my focus is on working to improve the quality of life for everyone. I am trying to make Connecticut more affordable by lowering taxes and electricity bills, protecting your wallets through fiscally responsible policies, and protecting vital human services for our most vulnerable residents. This score makes me want to work even harder to lessen burdens on job creators and working families.”

Sen. Harding has supported proposals to reduce income taxes and property taxes for working families. He offered a plan to remove the hidden ‘public benefits’ tax on electric bills. He has supported tax relief for seniors and veterans, paying down on the state’s credit card debt, and abiding by the state government’s spending and borrowing caps.

Sen. Harding was elected to his first term representing the 30th District in the State Senate in 2022 after four terms serving the people of the 107th House District. The 30th State Senate District is the largest geographically in the state, comprising the communities of Bethlehem, Brookfield, Canaan, Cornwall, Goshen, Kent, Litchfield, Morris, New Fairfield, New Milford, North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, Sherman, Torrington, Warren, Washington, and Winchester.

Sen. Harding was named Senate Minority Leader in February of 2024. On the web: www.SenatorHarding.com.
