CT Senate GOP: Elimination of Senior Center Coordinator Post Was Shortsighted - CT Senate Republic

Sen. Stephen Harding, Sen. Tony Hwang, Ranking Senator on the Aging Committee, Sen. Heather Somers, Ranking Senator on the Appropriations Committee, and Sen. Jason Perillo, Ranking Senator on the Human Services Committee today issued the following statement regarding the elimination of the Senior Center Coordinator position within Connecticut’s Department of Aging and Disability Services.

“Our House Republican colleague State Rep. Jay Case (R-Winsted) is raising the alarm over the elimination of this key position, and he’s absolutely right to do so.

What kind of a message does this send to seniors – and senior centers – across Connecticut?

Apparently, communication and coordination of services for vulnerable elderly residents isn’t valued anymore?

Budgets are about priorities. The shortsighted elimination of this position will unfortunately have a lasting negative impact on services for seniors in all of our communities. It’s a mistake that should be reversed.”
