HARTFORD, CT — State Senator Jason Perillo (R-Shelton) was presented with the “Friend of Early Childhood” award Thursday morning by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance, in recognition of his commitment to supporting early childhood education, improving the affordability and accessibility of childcare, and advocating for the well-being of Connecticut families.
Merrill Gay, Executive Director of the Early Childhood Alliance, credited Perillo for his vote in favor of Senate Bill 1, a bill that provided additional funding and services for early childhood education.
“I am truly honored to receive the ‘Friend of Early Childhood’ award,” said Senator Perillo. “I want to express my gratitude to the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance for this recognition. I’m proud of the work accomplished this year that advocates for Connecticut families, expands educational opportunities, and makes childcare more affordable and accessible for all. These efforts bring real results to families in Shelton, Stratford, Seymour, Monroe, and throughout our state.”
Senator Perillo accepted the award during a ceremony at the Stratford YMCA Thursday morning. “I want to thank everyone at the Stratford YMCA for hosting today’s award presentation,” Perillo said. “The YMCA does incredible work for children, teens, and seniors, providing outstanding facilities and programs that have a positive impact on so many in our community.”
The Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance was founded in 2002 and is dedicated to improving the well-being of children from birth to age eight in Connecticut, focusing on learning, health, and economic security. Its goal is to ensure that all young children enter kindergarten healthy, eager to learn, and ready for success. The organization envisions families and caregivers having access to comprehensive support and strategies for high-quality early care, education, nutrition, and overall health.
