Sens. Berthel & Harding Statement on Restoration of Bus Service for Bridgeport Public Schools students

Sen. Eric Berthel and Sen. Stephen Harding today issued the following statement regarding the restoration of bus service for Bridgeport Public Schools students.
“Good news. On Aug. 9, we wrote to the State Department of Education to express concerns about the Bridgeport school system increasing the distance some students must walk to school by half a mile.
We noted that education experts warned this could lead to an increase in tardiness and absenteeism. We noted how the change would affect about 1,700 elementary students and 600 high schoolers. We asked the department to seek answers and a resolution.
We appreciate state officials for hearing our concerns and for taking action on behalf of Bridgeport students and their families.”
