Senator Perillo Responds to DCF Oversight Forum
August 27, 2025

HARTFORD, CT – State Senator Jason Perillo (R–Shelton), Ranking Member of the Committee on Children, released the following statement in response to today’s Department of Children and Families (DCF) forum held before the Government Oversight and Children’s Committees:
“DCF is constantly chasing its tail. The goal should be to prevent runaway children and you do that by gathering data in each incident. But the audit showed that DCF isnt completing the basic paperwork needed to gather data even though their policies say that they need to. This is an agency of good people trying to do the right thing. But nobody has implemented measures to complete paperwork, develop data, and learn from it. It’s a leadership failure over a decade in the making.”
Senator Perillo emphasized the need for stronger oversight and consistent enforcement of DCF policies to protect vulnerable children and improve agency accountability.
