Senator Kissel Honored with “Friend of Early Childhood” Award

HARTFORD, CT – State Senator John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) was presented with the “Friend of Early Childhood” award by the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance in recognition of his strong advocacy for early childhood education and his commitment to supporting early childhood education, improving the affordability and accessibility of childcare, and advocating for the well-being of Connecticut families.
The award was presented by Merrill Gay, Executive Director of the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance, who commended Senator Kissel for his leadership in expanding educational opportunities and supporting families with young children.
“I’m honored to receive this recognition from the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance,” said Senator Kissel. “This year’s progress in early childhood education and childcare access is a testament to what we can achieve when we prioritize families and invest in our future. I’m proud to be part of that effort.”
Senator Kissel received the award during a special ceremony held at the Early Childhood Development Center in Enfield.
“I want to thank the Early Childhood Development Center for hosting today’s event and for the outstanding work they do for our community,” Kissel said. “I’m also grateful to Mayor Ken Nelson Jr., Deputy Mayor Marie Pyznar, Town Councilman Bob Cresotti, Town Manager Matthew Coppler, Assistant Town Manager Steven Bielenda, Director of Social Services Cindy Guerreria, Senior Operations Manager Karen Edelson, Operations Manager Amy Morales, Senior Site Manager Eileen Gardner, Site Manager Lori LaJoie, and Director of Enfield Kite, Hannah Song. I also want to thank the students who helped present the award, Eleanor Malak, Beckett Steirer, and Milani, granddaughter of Mayor Ken and JoMarie Nelson (not pictured). Your continued support and dedication to early childhood education are truly appreciated.”
Founded in 2002, the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance is a statewide organization dedicated to improving outcomes for children from birth to age eight, with a focus on education, health, and economic security.
