Sen. Stephen Harding, Sen. Henri Martin, Sen. Heather Somers and Sen. Ryan Fazio today issued the following statement regarding the federal government canceling the Revolution Wind project.
“Here’s what we know:
Electricity bills in Connecticut are too damn high.
Democrats have presided over skyrocketing of Connecticut’s electric rates to third-highest of any state in the country.
Democrats have passed hundreds of millions of dollars in new public benefits charges that have inflated those bills, while rejecting Republican proposals to eliminate the charges.
If Revolution Wind comes online, it will cause public benefits charges to rise even more.
On top of that, the State Pier boondoggle in New London began with a $90 million price tag and is now north of $310 million. The FBI is involved. A federal criminal trial this fall involves a former top Lamont administration official who was intimately involved with the Pier.
The Governor and other Democrats have been in power for a long time and have failed to deliver affordability. They should look in the mirror or at least provide solutions before blaming others.
In the meantime, Connecticut Republicans will continue providing solutions.”
