“Wow.” CT Senate GOP Statement on Gov. Lamont’s PURA Chair Reappointment
July 1, 2025

Sen. Jeff Gordon, Sen. Rob Sampson and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement:
“Through the media, Gov. Lamont on June 30 advised PURA Chair Marissa Gillett to ‘stop talking to the press’.
Wow. That’s quite a message to a top public official.
Gov. Lamont also on June 30 admitted to not having spoken to Gillett for the past three weeks.
Three weeks?
So, he reappointed her for a new term as chair without speaking to her about her deleted government text messages that have repeatedly made front page news? Do we have this right, governor? No red flags were raised for you? No questions were asked about what she knew and when she knew it? Do you even want to know, governor?
Gov. Lamont doesn’t want answers, but Senate Republicans do. We will be formally asking the legislature’s newly-created Government Oversight Committee to look into this in a bipartisan fashion to restore people’s faith in their state government.
Why? Because it looks to the average, hard-working Connecticut resident struggling to pay high electric bills that it is too convenient for critical text messages to somehow be deleted.”
