Waterbury DCF Case: CT Senate GOP Wants Update on Investigation
July 2, 2025

Tuesday, July 8 will be the next court appearance for the Waterbury stepmother accused of imprisoning and torturing her stepson for over two decades, and Senate Republican lawmakers are asking the Connecticut Department of Children and Families to provide an update on its investigation.
Sen. Jason Perillo, Ranking Senator on the Committee on Children, and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement:
“In late March, DCF located the archived files for this horrific case. DCF said then that the 20-year old files were under review.
It’s now more than three months later. Is the review complete? What has been learned? Will those findings be communicated to the public and to lawmakers? When will that happen?
DCF made international news with this case. DCF must be as transparent and as forthcoming as possible. Tell the people of Connecticut and the world what you know.“
