“The Silence is Deafening.” CT Senate GOP on DCF Waterbury Investigation - CT Senate Republic

Sen. Jason Perillo, Ranking Senator on the Committee on Children, and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement urging the Connecticut Department of Children and Families to provide an update on its investigation involving the Waterbury stepmother accused of imprisoning and torturing her stepson for over two decades.

“DCF hasn’t said a word. Gov. Lamont hasn’t said a word. Why?

In late March, DCF located the archived files for this horrific case. DCF said then that the 20-year old files were under review.

It’s now four months later. The arrest happened nearly a half a year ago.

Where are you, DCF? And Gov. Lamont: Are you seeking answers? Is the review complete? What has been learned? Will those findings be communicated to the public and to lawmakers? When will that happen?

DCF made international news with this case. DCF must be as transparent and as forthcoming as possible. Tell the people of Connecticut and the world what you know. Say something. The silence is deafening.

At the very least, Gov. Lamont and DCF must be transparent and accountable. Assure the people of Connecticut that this will never happen again.”
