Senator Perillo Meets with DCF to Address Systemic Failures
July 30, 2025

HARTFORD, CT — State Senator Jason Perillo (R-Shelton), Ranking Member of the Children’s Committee, today met with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to address systemic failures within the department. This meeting comes as an answer to the case in Waterbury, where a boy was held captive by his stepmother for over 20 years without DCF intervention.
Sen. Perillo said, “I thank DCF for answering my call to discuss reforms with the Children’s Committee leaders today. We need DCF to come to the table with solutions. The department has a long road ahead to rebuild trust and demonstrate that they can protect our most vulnerable. I believe they want to do that, and I will continue to push until positive changes have been implemented.”
