Sen. Sampson Statement on the End of Connecticut Children’s Gender Program - CT Senate Republic

HARTFORD – Chief Deputy Senate Republican Leader Rob Sampson (R-Wolcott) issued the following statement regarding news that Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is ending its youth gender program:

“The decision to end so-called ‘gender-affirming care’ for minors at Connecticut Children’s is not just welcome—it’s long overdue. No amount of political posturing can justify subjecting confused, vulnerable children to irreversible medical interventions under the guise of compassion.

“What’s truly disappointing is not the end of this dangerous practice, but Governor Lamont’s bizarre response. His statement suggests he’d prefer to see more children placed on puberty blockers or undergoing chest surgeries. That’s not moderation—that’s extremism dressed in a smile.

“The people of Connecticut should take note: Governor Lamont is not the centrist he claims to be. When given a chance to defend children, he chose ideology over innocence. This is a win for science, sanity, and the fundamental truth that children deserve protection—not experimentation,” he said.
