CT Senate GOP Statement on UPenn Resolution Agreement

Sen. Heather Somers, Sen. Rob Sampson, Sen. Henri Martin, and Sen. Stephen Harding issued the following statement regarding the University of Pennsylvania agreeing to remove any records, titles or recognitions “misappropriated by male athletes allowed to compete in female categories” and agreeing to send personalized apology letters to affected female swimmers. “We celebrate the decision to return fairness and equity back to women’s sports. There is a reason Title IX was adopted for women’s sports back in 1972. This is a crucial decision that we hope will have a ripple effect across the country. We urge others to follow UPenn’s lead.”
